Course work

  • Each PhD student shall be required to undertake course work for a minimum period of one semester
  • The course work shall be treated as pre PhD preparation
  • A candidate must secure a minimum GPA of 5.5 in the PhD course work in order to become eligible for PhD registration

Registration

  • After successful completion of course work, the candidate shall submit a synopsis to Research Advisory Committee (RAC) 
  • After approval of synopsis by competent authorities, a registration letter shall be issued by the registrar

Submission of Thesis

  • After the registration, the PhD scholar shall undertake research work and produce a draft thesis as per norms
  • A scholar shall submit a progress report after the completion of each semester to the RAC
  • The thesis shall include a certificate from the Supervisor that incorporates the candidate’s bonafide research and has not been submitted for the award of any degree at another university

Plagiarism Verification

If a candidate is found to have indulged in plagiarism, the matter shall be placed before the Advanced Study Research Committee, and the candidature for the PhD degree may be cancelled.

Eligibility

Master’s degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever the grading system is followed). 45%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, is allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/ OBC(non-creamy layer) / differently-abled and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time. Candidates having a UGC-NET (including JRF)/UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF)/SLET/GATE/teacher fellowship holder, or M.Phil. degree are exempt from a PhD. Entrance test. Admissions shall be confirmed only upon qualifying for a PhD. Entrance test and subsequent interview

Centre for Research, Instrumentation, & Development (CRID)

To promote the research environment, Poornima University has established a Centre for Research, Instrumentation, & Development (CRID) and 3 Centre of Excellence (CoE). CRID is the high quality well equipped lab established in the premises of Poornima University. The purpose of the laboratory is to enhance the quality of research. The experimental research laboratory is further divided into two parts, Wing-I and Wing-II. The centre of excellence has overseen the research and development of the most progressive technologies. It is aimed to instigate, lead, and deliver high quality research and academic activities through the collaboration and support of industries as well as national and international agencies and institutions. Below mentioned are the 3 CoE’s:

  • Centre of excellence in solar energy
  • Centre of excellence in machine learning
  • Centre of excellence in water resource

Objectives of Centre of Excellence

  • To develop fully solar energy driven systems for energy generation and irrigation and to develop a long term strategy to move towards innovation in other application areas driven by solar energy, e.g. green lighting, green computing, etc.
  • To encourage green building practices and energy auditing to make rural and urban areas a green zone within the next 10-15 years
  • To train highly qualified and innovative personnel by specialized training and knowledge sharing to enhance their contribution to the development of research in the areas of solar energy
  • To identify current and emerging research in the related areas of machine learning
  • To integrate leading academic research with strategic applications
  • To generate knowledge by organizing special lectures, workshops, and seminars by people from industry, academics, and research verticals
  • To generate and disseminate knowledge for global competitive advantage and capacity building in training, research and consultancy services for improving water quantity & quality management for sustainable development

Key Notes:

  • Class Start Date: Tentatively scheduled for July or August 2024
  • Cancellation Deduction: A minimum deduction of INR 5000 will be applied
  • Refund Duration: The refund process will take up to 45 working days
  • Late Admissions: If admission occurs after class commencement, the same refund rules apply
  • Fee Consideration: Cancellation charges are applicable to the entire program fee and are not calculated based on the fee after deducting any scholarship amount
  • Payment Issues: In case of cheque bounce or payment decline (due to student reasons), a fee of INR 500 is incurred by the student
  • Caution Money: Refunded upon program completion

  • In case any faculty/ staff member leaves the organization (in any circumstances) during the tenure of PhD, the scholarship given under this scheme will be discontinued from the date of reliving
